"It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from their sins"

2 Macabees 12:46

If you are Catholic then you are familiar with the word Purgatory. Purgatory is the place that the Soul goes after death of the body to complete purification. The Holy Souls suffer so much and are in desperate need of our prayers. My hope is that this page will encourage everyone to pray more for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

The following prayers not only help the tormented Souls in Purgatory but they also help us. Because each Soul that is released will pray for us when they reach Heaven.

Eternal Father, I offer
Thee the Most Precious
Blood of Thy Divine Son,
Jesus, in union with the
Masses said throughout
the world today, for
all the Holy Souls in
Purgatory, for sinners
everywhere, for sinners
in the Universal Church,
those in my home and
within my family.

This is a powerful prayer
said to release 1,000 souls
from Purgatory each time it is said!

Chaplet of the Holy Souls

This Chaplet can be prayed on a set of Rosary Beads.

Begin with: The Creed, then 1 Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, 1 Glory Be for the Pope’s intentions.

On Large Beads Pray: O holy souls draw the fire of God’s Love into my soul to reveal Jesus crucified in me, here on earth, rather than hereafter in Purgatory.

On Small Beads Pray: Crucified Lord Jesus have mercy on the souls in Purgatory

End with: Glory Be three times

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord,
And let perpetual Light shine upon them.
May their souls
And the souls of all the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God
Rest in peace.

O Gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captives souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy servant, (NAME); bring (HIM/HER) from the shadows of exile to Thy bright home in Heaven, where we trust Thou and Thy Blessed Mother have woven for her a crown of unfading bliss. Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for (HIM/HER).

By making a fervent "Sign of the Cross" while remembering the Holy Souls.

By offering up the Mass we attend, for them.

By sprinkling holy water on the ground and asking God to let it touch the Poor Souls.

By lighting a sanctuary candle for them in the Church.

By enrolling the names of the dead in the Masses.

By saying a Rosary for them.

By offering up your sufferings as penances for the Holy Souls.
